Say no to ineffective skincare! Learn to read ingredient lists in 3 steps and choose the right cleanser for your skin.

Have you ever had such an experience: seeing a viral "internet-famous" facial cleanser blowing up on social media, impulsively placing an order, only to find after a few uses that your face not only fails to get cleaner, but also starts to feel tight, flushed, or even break out?

In a market flooded with daily chemical products, we are often easily misled by fancy packaging and advertising slogans. In fact, the key to choosing the right product lies not in how renowned the brand is, but in whether it truly understands your skin. Today, let’s talk about how to avoid skincare pitfalls with a simple "three-step method".

Step 1: Identify your skin type, the "foundation" of skincare
The first step in skincare is not choosing products, but understanding yourself.

Dry/sensitive skin: If your face feels tight or even flaky after washing, it means your sebum membrane is relatively thin. You need mild, moisturizing products and must avoid strong oil-stripping formulas.

Oily/combination skin: If your T-zone (forehead, nose) is always shiny and pores are prone to clogging, you need moderate cleansing power while avoiding damage to the skin barrier.

Step 2: Read the ingredients to avoid the culprits of skin problems
Many daily chemical products add powerful surfactants in pursuit of an extreme cleansing sensation.

Watch out for SLS/SLES ingredients: Although they offer strong cleansing power, long-term use may damage the skin barrier for sensitive and dry skin types, leading to oilier and more sensitive skin over time.

Look for "amino acid" ingredients: Check if the ingredient list contains terms such as sodium cocoyl glutamate and sodium lauroyl sarcosinate. These ingredients are weakly acidic, close to the pH value of human skin, mild and non-irritating, leaving the face hydrated and tight-free after washing.

Step 3: Proper usage habits matter more than the products themselves
Even with the right products, incorrect application can ruin all your efforts.

Use lukewarm water: Overly hot water strips away too much oil, while cold water cannot fully emulsify dirt. Warm water at 32–35°C is the optimal choice.

Lather thoroughly: Whether it’s a facial cleanser or cleansing powder, make sure to lather it fully in your palm or with a foaming net before applying it to your face. Let the foam lift away dirt instead of rubbing your skin with your fingers.

Control the duration: Facial cleansers should not stay on the face for more than 60 seconds. Focus on cleaning the T-zone and gently glide over the cheeks.

Conclusion:
Skincare is a long-distance race, not a sprint. Choosing a product with safe ingredients, mild efficacy, paired with proper habits, is the way to restore your skin to its healthy original state.
